Mark
Mackenzie-Smith
Mark is Veronica’s brother and nephew of Thomas Roberts.
Thomas was always known as Uncle Tommy to the family. Some of Mark’s favourite childhood memories are the games Uncle Tommy played, his magic tricks, and the adventures he took him on exploring the beaches and caves on the East coast of Scotland where he lived with Auntie Jose.
Mark is currently CEO of a Scottish charity.

Mark's Story
Mark was the first to discover his uncle's remarkable WWII survival story and he started the preliminary research around the lost Bristol Blenheim.
He is a dynamic leader with a uniquely varied career spanning aviation, branding, coaching, and the charity sector. He began his professional journey in Air Traffic Control, serving at both the Scottish Air Traffic Control Centre and Edinburgh Airport.

His entrepreneurial spirit led him to run the UK’s first commercially flown hot air airship through his venture, Airship Charter Services.
Transitioning from aviation, Mark moved into the creative world, setting up a brand design agency and working with charities across the UK combining his creative expertise with a deep commitment to social impact. Alongside this, he qualified as a guide dog trainer further reflecting his dedication to meaningful, people-focused work.
His career also included a stint in the Investment Management world before circling back to what he loves most: helping people and organisations grow and delivering brand strategy and personal branding workshops in the UK, France, and Germany.
Today, Mark is the CEO of Scotland’s largest counselling and family therapy charity, where he leads on business development, strategic planning, and team performance management.
Outside of work, he’s a published children’s book illustrator, currently working on a new children’s book of his own, and writing another on navigating Prostate Cancer. When not working, he splits his sailing time between the warm waters of the Adriatic and the brisker seas of Scotland.
